Stranski Model Kits — Industria Mechanika | Anna Schmelzer

The Stranski Model Kits are a collaborative collectible range I produced with Industria Mechanika and writer/illustrator Lorenzo Etherington, based on the Stranski universe of characters. This was a full design-to-production engagement — not a sculpt-to-spec commission, but a creative collaboration where my 3D character interpretation helped shape how the final kit designs evolved.

The hero piece in the range is Stranski Girl on the Harley Davidson — a 1/24 scale figure balancing detailed character sculpting with the mechanical complexity of a period-accurate motorcycle. At this scale, I planned carefully in ZBrush's DynaMesh workflow so the character and vehicle stayed proportionally correct and visually unified despite very different levels of organic detail.

The Boatman is the companion piece — a more atmospheric, narrative-driven character for the darker corner of the Stranski world. I prioritised cloth (achieved manually in ZBrush using ClayBuildUp and the Cloth brush) and the weathered surface quality of someone who has spent decades on open water.

Both pieces received ZBrush Top Row in 2019. They were manufactured and sold as resin model kits through Industria Mechanika's international distribution.
