Stranski Model Kits — Industria Mechanika Collectibles | Anna Schmelzer

Client: Industria Mechanika

The Stranski Model Kits are a collaborative collectible range produced with Industria Mechanika and writer/illustrator Lorenzo Etherington, based on the richly developed Stranski universe of characters. This was a full design-to-production engagement — not simply a sculpt-to-spec commission, but a genuine creative collaboration in which the 3D character interpretation informed how the final kit designs evolved.

The hero piece in the range is Stranski Girl on the Harley Davidson — a 1/24 scale figure that balances highly detailed character sculpting with the mechanical complexity of a period-accurate motorcycle. Achieving both at this scale in a single coherent composition required significant planning in ZBrush's DynaMesh workflow to ensure the character and vehicle remained proportionally correct and visually unified despite being sculpted at very different levels of organic detail.

The Boatman is the companion piece — a more atmospheric, narrative-driven character that establishes the darker corner of the Stranski world. His sculpt prioritised cloth simulation (achieved manually in ZBrush using ClayBuildUp and the Cloth brush) and the weathered surface quality of someone who has spent decades on open water.

Both pieces were awarded ZBrush Top Row in 2019 — confirmation that the community recognised the technical and artistic ambition of the work. The pieces were manufactured and sold as resin model kits through Industria Mechanika's international distribution.
