The Schleich Bayala engagement is Anna's longest-running commercial relationship — a decade of continuous character sculpting for one of Europe's most recognised toy brands. Schleich's Bayala line is a fantasy range of fairies, unicorns, mermaids and mythical creatures sold in over 60 countries, demanding consistently high sculpt quality at production scale.
Working from 2D character designs provided by Schleich's in-house design team, the workflow involves interpreting flat concept art into three-dimensional production sculpts that satisfy injection moulding requirements: correct proportions for the target age group, absence of undercuts that would complicate tooling, and sufficient surface detail to read at a 6–10cm scale. The Blossom Pegasus — a winged horse with elaborate flower and crystal decorative elements — required balancing delicate geometry with the structural demands of a child's toy that must survive drop tests and repeated handling.
The engagement has also included Marvel licensed hero characters — commercially sensitive work that demonstrates the ability to absorb IP-holder requirements and brand guideline constraints on top of standard production demands. This long-term relationship is a direct reflection of what toy manufacturers need from a freelance sculptor: consistency, reliability, and the technical knowledge to deliver sculpts that survive the manufacturing process intact. It is the most commercially significant ongoing relationship in this portfolio.
